CHILLICOTHE — The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 9 will host a series of Statewide Transportation Improvement Program open house meetings for the public beginning April 8.

According to Toby Smalley, District 9 STIP Coordinator, the STIP Open House Meetings will provide the public with information regarding upcoming projects that the state will complete between 2014 and 2017.

“By law, we have to have these public meetings because it gives the public a chance to come in, review the projects that we have scheduled, ask questions, or make comments. This STIP is for 2014-2017, which begins July of this year, because that is when our fiscal year starts,” Smalley said.

According to Smalley, the open house meetings will provide attendees with a list of the planned projects, as well as how funding is allocated. Schedules for each project will also be listed.

“We have a lot of various projects that are listed for those four years, consisting of pavement projects, bridge projects and guard rails. Its just an opportunity for people to come and ask us a bunch of questions,” Smalley said.
