Jeffrey Charles, 58


Jeffrey Allen Charles, 58, of Reynoldsburg, formerly of New Boston, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Mt. Carmel East Medical Center in Columbus.


He was born June 23, 1954 in Orlando, Fla., a son of Josephine Elizabeth Strickland Charles of Portsmouth, and the late James Manning Charles, Sr.


Jeff worked for Strawser Construction in Columbus and was a 1971 Glenwood High School graduate.


He was also preceded in death by his companion of more than 30 years, Janie Carter, July 18, 2012.


Jeff is also survived by two brothers, James Charles Jr. of Reynoldsburg and Daniel (Ruth) Charles of Lucasville; two half sisters, Tiffany (Brian) Johnston and Jennifer (Josh) Maxwell, both of Georgia; a special niece Jada (Keith) Adams, and her two sons, Graham and Liam of Newark, Ohio; Janie’s children, Terri Lee (John) Billingsly Sr., Angie Sexton, and K.D. (Jennifer) Carter; Janie’s parents, Bob and Zepha Carter; Janie’s grandchildren, John, Austin, Nicholas, Katlyn, Darian, and McKenzie, who were like his own; two nieces, April Greene and Kelly (Rob) Gallindo; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as life-long friends, Rusty Milliron, Ernie Broughton, Bob Stanley, Joey McKelvey, Ray Mitchell, and other special friends, the co-workers of Strawser Construction; .


Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Branch of the Community of Christ with Elders Alvin Breech and Phil Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and an hour before the funeral at the church.
