On Thursday the Scioto County Commissioners signed a letter of support for Wabuck Development Company’s application to the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.

According to Mike Crabtree, Chairman of the Scioto County Commissioners, Wabuck Development is proposing to build a housing development for low income families in Rush Township.

“They want to build some low income housing in Porter as well as Rush Township. They have not been able to reach some kind of agreement with the Porter Township Trustees, so they are not going to peruse that at this time. They do not have enough time between now and the deadline for filing with the Ohio Housing Finance Agency,” Crabtree said. “They were able to come up with an agreement with the trustees in Rush Township. We signed the letter supporting their application to construct the houses in Rush Township.”

He said the location they are looking to build the housing development is near the Rush and Washington Township border. Crabtree said it’s in the area where the former sunset drive-in used to be.

Crabtree said the project is being called Carson Hills and calls for the construction of about 42 units or houses.

According to wabuckdevelopment.com, the company’s mission is, “the development of quality, safe, decent, affordable housing and social models which will enhance the standard of living for those in need.”

To date the organization has developed 3,500 housing units in the states of Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee. For more information about Wabuck Development visit, wabuckdevelopment.com.
