East finished its regular season with a 51-38 home win over SOC I Green on Senior Night.


Mercedes Tackett led all scorers with 24 points as she was one of five Tartan seniors to play their final home game. Classmates Tiffany Craft and Jessica Meade added 13 and 10 respectively. Giulia Elli had 18 and Erin Imes grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the Bobcats.


Tournament action starts Monday as Green takes on Whiteoak at Northwest High School in a Division IV Southeast Sectional Semifinal. East will play Clay Feb. 16 at Northwest in a Division IV Southeast Sectional Championship.

Clay 58, New Boston 25

A pair of underclassmen reached double figures for host Clay Thursday as the Panthers sent its senior class out on a winning note with a 58-25 win over New Boston.

Lexie Gilliland led all scorers with 18 points while Katie Redding added a dozen in the win. Madison Whitley’s eight points, nine rebounds and four assists was the highlight among the four seniors. Eden Howard and Emily Waugh each had eight to lead the Tigers.

New Boston will play Leesburg Fairfield in Monday’s Division IV Southeast Sectional Semifinal at Northwest. Clay takes on East in the Feb. 16 Division IV Southeast Sectional Championship at Northwest.

Tori Leader finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds as visiting West defeated South Webster 58-47 in Thursday’s SOC II finale.

Alex Ridout added 10 for the Senators. Senior Kaci Messer finished with 15 in her final home game for the Jeeps.

West will go to Lewis County (Ky.) Saturday night to finish its regular season. South Webster will take on Eastern Feb. 14 at Athens High School.

Three Oak Hill players were in double figures Thursday night as the host Oaks defeated Minford 55-40 in SOC II action.

Paige Roseberry led the victors with 16 points while Alex Kuhn had 15 and Leanna Adkins chipped in with a dozen. Carrie Wynn paced the Falcons with 17 to lead all scorers.

Minford will face Northwest in Wednesday’s Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal at Valley. Oak Hill will tangle with Chillicothe Southeastern Feb. 14 at Jackson High School in a Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal.

Host Valley sent its lone senior McKenzie Coriell out with a 64-51 SOC II win over Waverly.

Beth Conley had 19 points, Coriell finished with 16 and Lexie Doddridge added 10 for the Indians. Darby High had seven assists and six steals while Taylor Skaggs had three blocks in the fourth quarter and finished with six rebounds. Bri Wiget’s 12 and Haley Shreck finished with 10 for the Tigers.

Waverly will travel to Zane Trace High School Monday to face Hillsboro in a Division II Southeast Sectional Semifinal. Valley goes to Jackson Wednesday for a Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal against Coal Grove.

NEWS AND NOTES: A pair of girls games that were postponed earlier in the season were announced as cancelled to the Daily Times Thursday night.

The two games were the Minford-Paint Valley and Northwest-Clay. The Falcons were originally scheduled to travel to Bainbridge Dec. 8 while the Mohawks trip into Rosemount was planned for this past Monday.
