Doris Bell, 80

Doris Bell, 80, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the SOMC Hospice Center. She was born Jan. 18, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alfred and Rosa Mae Anderson Mills, Sr.

Doris was retired after more than 25 years of service from Community Action Organization where she was Sites Program Manager for Seniors. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the church’s longtime bookkeeper, and she was a former volunteer for the Senior Olympics. Doris was a 1950 graduate of John Hay High School, and Dyke College in Cleveland.

She was preceded in death Sept. 16, 1960, by her first husband, William Wauketcher Robinson, whom she married in Cleveland in 1953; and on Sept. 1, 1997, by her second husband, Harold Gene Bell, Sr. whom she married in Portsmouth in 1964.

Surviving are three sons, Rev. Harold G. Bell, Jr. of Portsmouth, Reginald Robinson of Athens, Ohio and Raymond Robinson of Beechwood Heights, Ohio; a stepson, Mark A. Bell of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Francine Bell of Portsmouth; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Koerber of Seattle, Wash.; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a special daughter, Barbara Robinson of Portsmouth.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Russell Robinson and Kenneth Robinson; a stepson, Roger Bell; a daughter, Renee Robinson, a stepdaughter, Lisa Bell; two brothers, Clarence Mills and Alfred Mills, Jr.; and a sister, Velma Mills.

Friends may call at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., with graveside services following at Scioto Burial Park.
