Denver Ratliff, 82

Denver Lee Ratliff, 82, of South Shore, Ky. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013. He was born July 11, 1930, to the late Alex Ratliff and Darlena Timberlake Ratliff at Sunshine, Ky. He worked out of both the Carpenter’s Local #437 and the Pipefitters Local #248. Denver retired as a crew leader working as an iron worker for Empire Detroit Steel/Cyclops. He was a member of the Church of God and a 60-year member of the Harrison-Fullerton Masonic Lodge #937. For the last 45 years he owned and operated a beef cattle farm on Lower White Oak Road and spent time as a salesman for his son’s dealership, Ratliff’s Used Cars of South Shore.

Denver is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vivian Stewart Ratliff, a son Steve (Rita) Ratliff, a daughter Beverly (Terry) Potter, a daughter Teresa Tinsley all of South Shore/South Portsmouth, Ky. a son Joe Ratliff of Lexington, Ky. He also survived by six grandchildren: Nicki Tinsley (Mike) Whitley, Ami Ratliff (Kris) Bartee, Kyle Potter, Emily Tinsley, Adam (Molly) Ratliff and Julie Potter (Jonathan) Byrne along with four great grandchildren: Alison Whitley, Remington Bartee, Adalyn Whitley and Tayte Ratliff. He is also survived by his brother Boyd (Betty) Ratliff and his sister Geneva Ratliff (Bob) Evans all of South Shore.

He was preceded in death by his father Alex and a son-in-law Michael Tinsley.

Private graveside services were conducted by Rev. Acy Gibson and held Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Mount Zion Cemetery in South Shore, Ky. by Roberson Funeral Home.
