Ronald Carmichael, 76
Ronald H. Carmichael, 76, of Lucas, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at MedCentral Mansfield after an extended illness. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Born April 22, 1936, in Sciotoville, he was the son of Lloyd and Vella (Artis) Carmichael. He worked for National Seating for 32 and a half years and he worked at the Lucas Elementary School for 10 years retiring from the school in 1998. Ron served in the United States Marines from 1953 to 1956 serving in Korea for six months. Ron was a member of the Lucas Four Square Church where he served as a head usher and also on the church council in the past. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 since 1980. Ron loved his Gospel concerts, his cross word puzzles and when he was able he loved going to garage sales but most of all he dearly loved his family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Carmichael; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Goldie Carmichael and Ronald and Irene Carmichael all of Mansfield; one daughter, Vickie Doan of Ontario; nine grandchildren, Joshua Carmichael, Jon Carmichael and his fiancé, Maggie, Brandon and Lesley Doan, David Carmichael, Daniel and Tiffany Carmichael, April Doan and her fiancé, Lupe, Matthew Carmichael, Selena Carmichael and Stacie Carmichael; one step granddaughter, Shayna; fourteen great grandchildren, Addison Kurtz, Emma Kurtz, Jaslyn Lopez, Landen Doan, Bennett Doan, Bradley Carmichael, Tyler Carmichael, Logan Carmichael, Jackson Carmichael, Alezander Jose Monroy, Gavin Bryan, Easton Carmichael, Corbin Carmichael, Breelynn Doan and another one on the way; three brothers, Roger (Joy) Carmichael of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Harold Carmichael of Wheelersburg, Ohio and Dale (Cynthia) Carmichael of Portsmouth; three sisters, Wynona (Cliff) Terry of St. Louis, MO, Sharon (Chad) Cooper of Columbus, Ohio and Gloria Gunnell and her fiancé, Joe of Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Joy Carmichael of Portsmouth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Tye Allen Carmichael; a great granddaughter, Emily Anne Carmichael; a sister, Karen; three brothers, Robert, Edwin and Jimmy; a son-in-law, Huynh Doan; three nieces, Becky, Debbie and Shirley; a brother-in-law, Frank Gunnell; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Carmichael and Billie Carmichael.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Dallas Waggle with military honors following the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
