The Shawnee State University (SSU) Clark Planetarium is set to host a new show entitled “CORAL: Rekindling Venus,” starting Monday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.

According to released information the, “Clark Planetarium is the only one in Ohio launching the film during a seven-day launch period along with planetariums in New York City, Baltimore, Houston, Albuquerque, Anchorage, Honolulu and Washington D.C.”

According to an artist’s statement from Lynette Wallworth about the show, “imagine global co-operation for a global problem. Imagine corals as the barometer of climate change. Imagine we are the pivot point. Imagine rekindling Venus. My intent is to leave the audience with a sense of wonder for the complexity of the coral community and a deep-felt longing to see it survive.

When you watch the film is the remarkable survival mechanisms already at play in the community of coral reefs, mechanisms that will be put to the test in the coming years. We might see ourselves as two different communities interconnected in our own survival.”

The film also will be shown at the Clark Planetarium on Wednesday, Jan. 23, and Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. . The Planetarium shows are free and open to the public.

The Clark Planetarium is normally open at 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. The first Monday of every month is Kids Night.
