Eleanor G. Benner, 78
Eleanor Grace Beadle Benner, 78, of Rubyville, Maple Benner Road, went to be with the Lord in the presence of her family on her birthday, Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth. Eleanor was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Portsmouth. She was the youngest child born to the late Guy and Grace Giles Beadle.
She is survived by her husband, Noah Vernon Benner whom she married May 24, 1977; her daughter, Trina Adams of Portsmouth; a son, Trent (Carol) Adams of Minford; three grandchildren, Brittany Grace, Morgan and Melissa; one brother, Richard (Ruth) Beadle of Lebanon, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Beadle of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Beadle and a sister, Dorothy Wise.
Eleanor was a member of Christ Brethren Church, the former Long Run E.U.B. later United Methodist Church since she was 12-years-old where she was the pianist – later first organist for more than 60 years. Eleanor loved gospel music. She was a graduate of Clay High School in 1952. After graduation, she worked for Murfin Insurance Company and in later years she was a demonstrator for products at various supermarkets. Eleanor loved her family and family gatherings, she loved people and loved to cook. The family would like to thank Eleanor’s caregivers for their excellent care during her illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Christ Brethren Church in Rubyville with Pastor Bob Davis officiating. Burial will be at Long Run Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
