Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini says his officers have recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested two people in the process. Arrested were Jospeh W. Jenkins, 35, and Tashia M. Taylor, 30, both of West Portsmouth.

Donini said his office received a call from the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Friday that they had received information that a stolen vehicle from Adams County was at 2054 Carey’s Run Pond Creek Rd. in West Portsmouth.

The Washington Township Community Policing Deputy Andy Drake responded to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol which resulted in a search of the house and locating the suspects inside.

Donini said the case is part of an ongoing investigation which resulted in the vehicle being recovered. During this investigation, the deputy observed that the vin number had been tampered with.

Jenkins has been charged with one count of tampering with a vin a felony of the fourth degree; one count of tampering with evidence a felony of the third degree; receiving stolen property a felony of the fifth degree and driving under suspension a misdemeanor of the first degree.

Taylor has been charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth degree felony; tampering with evidence a third degree felony and removing a vin number, a fifth degree felony. Taylor was held on a $12,500 bond. Jenkins was held in the Scioto County Jail without bond.

Donini said anyone with any information concerning the theft is being requested to contact detective Dan Malone at 740-351-1099. All calls will remain anonymous.
