The Pike SWCD annual seedling sale is in progress. The District takes prepaid orders that should arrive in March, depending on weather conditions. You will receive a phone call a week before the pickup date.
We have seedlings for numerous tasks. The Bald Cypress is great for wet areas where nothing seems to grow. The Eastern Redbud, Flowering Dogwood, and the Wild Plum makes springtime come alive.
For those that are encouraging wildlife on their prosperity; you’ll need the Hazelnut, Pawpaw, Persimmon, and the Wild Plum. The Sugar Maple is the tree that Maple syrup comes from and has beautiful golden leaves in the fall. Let’s not forget the White Pine. The White Pine has many uses: privacy, erosion control, wind break, lumber, and Wildlife.
