The Kentucky State Police have arrested a Greenup County man after an investigation into illegal drug activity.
Ashland officers of the KSP received information that Frank W. Basenback, 25, of Flatwoods, Ky. was engaging in the trafficking of illegal prescription narcotics.
On Jan. 7, troopers and detectives from the Kentucky State Police Post 14 in Ashland conducted a controlled buy and bust operation. Undercover officer’s made arrangements to purchase oxycodone prescription pills from Basenback.
Officers made contact with Basenback and he produced three oxycodone pills and completed an illegal transaction. During the course of the investigaton, search warrants were executed and more than $20,000 in cash was also seized.
Basenback was arrested and lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center on the charge of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, a first degree offense.
The investigation is ongoing by detectives from Post 14.
