Mary “Sis” Cassidy, 89

Mary R. “Sis” Cassidy 89, of Portsmouth, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at SOMC Hospice.

She was born July 25, 1923; the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Jones. Mary was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and a former employee of Selby Shoe Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Cassidy and two brothers Jack Jones and Dan Jones.

Surviving are her children Pam (Dave) Henson of Milford, Dan (Sharon) Cassidy of Mt Orab, Chuck (Mary) Cassidy of Harrison, Phillip (Carol) Cassidy of Portsmouth, Mark (Selma) Cassidy of Batavia. Shawn (Judy) Cassidy of Milford, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren two brothers Richard Jones of Portsmouth and Charles Robert Jones of West Portsmouth, and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday Dec. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with The Rev. Adam Streitenberger officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Melcher Funeral Home on Wednesday Dec. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. at Melcher Funeral Home.
