Will Henderson, president of Henderson & Associates (formerly Cooper-Henderson) of Waverly, has been named Chairman of the Pike County Republican Central and Executive Committee. He succeeds Greg Slone, of Beaver, who has served as party chair for the past three-and-a-half years. The planned change of leadership was made official Tuesday at the committee’s monthly meeting at its Piketon headquarters.

“I greatly appreciate Greg’s leadership and greatly appreciate the committed volunteers and financial supporters that made it all possible. The political face of Pike County is changing, and it is both an honor and a challenge to be asked to guide the party through these changes,” Henderson said. “Our immediate goal is to assure future Pike County ballots will carry the names of well qualified Republican candidates for all offices. It is my belief that by offering a choice of qualified candidates the citizens of Pike County will be the ultimate winners.”

Henderson was born in Ironton and raised in Chillicothe. He is the son of Ruth Charlene (James) Henderson and Bill Henderson both of Waverly.

Henderson also has prior law enforcement experience and 15 years of military service; being deployed operationally three times, and is currently serving as an Anti Terrorism Officer in the United States Navy Reserve. He continues to serve as the Chairman of the Portsmouth Site Specific Advisory Board - a stakeholder board designed to involve the community in a more direct way in the U. S. Department of Energy’s cleanup decisions by providing recommendations to the Department on its Environmental Management Program in Piketon, Ohio.

“Will brings great credentials, proven leadership abilities and fresh energy to the party,” Slone said. “And I could not be more pleased with his selection as our new chairman. During the past year, the party has been increasingly visible and active in growing its ranks. Our Waverly campaign headquarters which was so successful during the recent election is just the beginning of a new era, and I know with Will’s leadership we can count on an ever growing political presence here in Pike County.”
