Alma Tatman, 87

Alma L. Tatman, 87, of Coles Park, West Portsmouth passed away in her sleep Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at her home. She was born July, 12 1925, in Corbin, Ky. to the late Arthur and Ida Hash Alsip. She was a retired nurse’s aid from Southern Ohio Medical Center and was a member of the Church of Christ at Friendship. Alma loved spending time with her family, along with quilting. She also enjoyed cooking, canning and was an avid gardener. She always tried to help others when she could and avidly supported the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Along with her parents Alma was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Homer Alsip, and three sisters, Trix, Irene, and Georgia.

Alma is survived by her husband of 67 years, Henry “Eddie” Tatman who she married on June 21, 1945, two sons, Art Tatman(Andy Cochran) of Roanoke, Va., and Gene (Janet) Tatman of Lucasville, a daughter Mary “Winnie” Tatman of West Portsmouth, six grandchildren; Chris Bow, Angie Simmons, Shawn Tatman, Brandi Tatman, Shelly Stall, Tracy Wireman and six great grandchildren; Claudia, Mitchell, Ryan, Sammy, Alysa and Ashur. She is also survived by a brother, Ora Alsip, and a sister, Doris Hupp.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with John Beekman officiating and interment in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
