Time Warner Cable announced Thursday that it will be accepting new and unwrapped toys from customers and employees in an effort to help families in need this holiday season.

“Time Warner Cable appreciates the support of our customers and employees who want to make a difference for a family this holiday season,” Alison Barret, community relations manager with Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio, said. “All of the toys collected will stay in that community through our partnerships with various charities.”

Barrett said the organizations that will benefit from the toy drive, are Toys for Tots, the Salvation Army, and the New Boston Police Department Toy Drive. She said toys can be dropped off at the Time Warner Cable office located at 1223 Offnere St., in Portsmouth. For customers who would like to participate, new and unwrapped toys can be purchased for all age ranges, and those toys will be accepted through Dec. 12.

One of the highest profile Christmas toy programs is the one in which New Boston Police officers along with help from Santa Claus, deliver toys during the Christmas season.

“There’s always a need,” Lt. Diane Davis of the New Boston Police Department said. “This year we had a cut-off limit for applicants for the program. However, once those applications are filled, if we still have money coming in, and time available to do it, we will help more people. The need is always there. Toys can be dropped off at the New Boston Police Department, and we also have an account at Desco, under the name New Boston Police Christmas Fund.”
