Wiseman was an All-Southern Ohio Conference performer in track three times and All-SOC in cross country once. He garnered All-Southeast District honors in track twice and was a State Qualifier in track and field.
"I am excited about running for Rio, not many get the chance to run in college,” Wiseman said. "It is really close to home, but far enough where I can live on campus.
"I love the campus because it is not too big and reminds him of home," he added. "It's a good campus.”
Rio Grande head coach Bob Willey has brought in three athletes from South Webster in the last two years and many other athletes from South Webster have committed and/or are already competing Rio Grande in various sports. He feels like the pipeline from Rio Grande to South Webster is very solid.
"They have outstanding coaches," Willey said. "They have for years and it's very close to Rio Grande, so it's nice to develop that pipeline.”
Wiseman is expected to contribute for the RedStorm track and cross country programs immediately.
"Arrick is an outstanding cross country runner and I know he'll run very strong on their 4 x 800-team and he does real well for (South Webster) in their middle distance,” Willey said. "We're looking for him to do that here as well, he'll step right in and help us out in both track and cross country as well.
"He seemed very excited about coming to Rio Grande and he's just got a great personality, good student and we're thrilled to have him join us,” Willey said.
Wiseman will take pre-med and major in Biology. He eventually will go on to physical therapy.
He discussed what he feels his best asset is as a runner/competitor.
"I'm a dedicated worker both on and off the track and will give a great effort,” Wiseman said.
His goal while at Rio Grande is to succeed as the student in the student/athlete title that he will wear.
"I want to complete (my) academics first,” Wiseman said. "I know it will be challenge given my major and I also want to compete well on the track.”
Arrick is the son of Jim and Theresa Wiseman of South Webster, OH.
'He joins Nathan Mogle of Tri Village High School as the current 2009-10 recruiting class for both men's cross country and track and field.
