On Nov. 10, 2012, Herbert E. King passed from this world moving towards his heavenly home. He is survived by his wife, Getta Louise Bennett King, one daughter, Mrs. Jerry Steinhauer (Shawna), three grandsons, Anthony, Jared and Caleb Smith, and a brother, George King. His extended family includes, step granddaughter, Stephanie Moss, husband Zach and children Zander and Chloe; one step grandson, Seth Steinhauer and his wife Melissa, and Skylar. His family also includes special friends, Bill and Becky Curnutte.

He was preceded in death by Wilbur and Effie (Nance) King. His departed siblings include Lawrence King, Dale King, Edna Bennett, Clytie Kuhns, Ida Beadle, Delbert King, Gerald King, Clayton King, Rosella Effie King, and Flossie King (stillborn).

Herbert attended Stockdale Baptist Church where he served as deacon. His favorite pastime activity was to read and study the Bible. Herb served in the United States Army and was a member of James Dickey Post No. 23 American Legion. He was a member of the Neoacacia Lodge in Columbus, Scottish Rite, Cincinnati. Herbert owned and operated King’s Market, later he retired from the US Postal Service in 1985.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Rick Evans and Pastor Lowell King officiating. Entombment will be in Edgewood Abbey at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
