Agnes Collins, 77

Agnes Collins, 77, of Portsmouth, died Friday, November 9, 2012 at her residence. She was born January 22, 1935 in Ruggles, Kentucky, to Vernon Hurst and Ina Mae Edington Hurst. She was proprietor of Wolfe’s Clothing, and was secretary at Temple Baptist Church for over 20 years.

Agnes was a member of Bigelow Church. She was a soloist and choir member. She was also a former Golden Bear.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Hurst; husband, John B. Collins, Sr. on April 6, 1999; a brother, Arnold Hurst; and a sister, Loretta Hurst.

She is survived by her mother, Ina Mae Edington Hurst; three sons, John B. (Carolyn R.) Collins, Jr. of West Portsmouth, Ohio, Jeffrey K. Collins of Portsmouth, Ohio, and James C. (JoAnn) Collins of Germantown, Ohio; six grandchildren, Kris Shaw, Keri Howard, John P. Collins, Elspeth Grace Moore, James Vernon Collins and Amanda Marie Suplizio; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Lindsey Howard. She is also survived by a sister, Lawana Hurst of Sterling, Virginia.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth with Pastor James C. Collins officiating. Interment will be in Stone Cemetery, Camp Dix, Kentucky. Visitation will be Monday, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and one hour before the service at Daehlers.
