An altercation Thursday morning resulted in the stabbing of a Wurtland, Kentucky man.

Harvey T. Wilburn, 29, of 438 Kentucky 693 suffered the stab wound to his upper left side in the armpit area.

An investigation by Greenup County Sheriff Keith M. Cooper revealed that Wilburn was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with Sherman Royster, 39, also of 438 Kentucky 693 when he received the stab wound.

According to Cooper, around 6:35 a.m. Thursday the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office responded to 204 Kentucky 693 in Wurtland in reference to what investigators referred to as “a suspicious circumstances call,” from that address.

Upon an officer’s arrival he found a man identified as Wilburn inside the residence with a single stab wound.

Wilburn was transported to Our Lady Of Bellfonte Hospital where Wilburn was listed in good condition at press time.

Royster was arrested and lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center, charged with assault in the second degree.

Greenup County Sheriff’s Deputy David Bocook is in charge of the investigation.
