Mary Marasek, 83

Mary Kathryn “Kate” Marasek, 83, formerly of Coles Park, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in Cincinnati. She was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Portsmouth, to the late Christian Wedebrook and Bernice Mitchell Wedebrook.

Kate graduated from Portsmouth High School, and was a former member of Franklin Avenue United Methodist Church, where she attended before she married Robert W. Marasek, II. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish; a choir member; worked at Schaefer’s Super Market, Marting’s Department Store, Gallaher Drug Store; and also attended Shawnee State College in the Allied Science department. Most of her life was spent making a home and being a mother to her seven children, Bob (Ruth) Marasek, Rich (Carla) Marasek, Mike (Becky) Marasek, Annette (Rick) Malone, Theresa (Tim) Graham, Christy (Todd) Perkins, and Kathy (Matt) Keipper. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Marasek, Sr., to whom she was married 59 years.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father David Young officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park in McDermott. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth. Recitation of the rosary will be 7 p.m. at Daehler’s.
