Piketon 25, Adena 16

Piketon secured its second playoff appearance in school history with a 26-16 road win over Adena Friday evening.

It has been 15 years since the Redstreaks have played more than 10 games in a season and Piketon wasted no time going ahead via a five-yard pass from Isaac Brabson to Aaron Southworth with 6:12 to play in the first quarter.

Adena struck back with a 47-yard field goal in the second, but after a scoreless second quarter, Brabson struck again with a 27-yard run. The extra point failed and the score stood at 13-3 with 7:20 remaining in the third.

The Warriors added a rushing touchdown a little over two minutes later but a 42-yard Cameron Waddell touchdown run made it 19-10 and a fumble return for a touchdown made it 25-10.

Adena would block a punt in the end zone and recover to make the score 25-16, but it was too little too late for the Warriors.

Piketon improves to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the SVC and will play next week in the first round of the playoffs.
