Thelma Maynard, 92

Thelma Louise Maynard, 92, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the SOMC Hospice Center. She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Wheelersburg to the late Alva Andrew and Mae Dietz Daniels. Thelma was of the Methodist faith and was the office manager for the local Electrolux Company for 40 years. She graduated from Wheelersburg High School and had attended Rio Grande College for two years.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur “Buss” Maynard, whom she married in New Boston, June 12, 1940, on April 2, 1978. Thelma is survived by her son, Michael Stewart (Judy) Maynard of Pataskala; her daughter, Sherry Ann (Phil) Vassar of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Stewart Daniels and sister, Dorothy Weaver.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Elder Ralph Clay officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in Memorial Burial Park.
