PDT Sports Report

Wheelersburg took a trip to Waverly and continued the season-long themes of racking up outrageous passing yards behind the arm of Eddie Miller and adding wins to the resume behind a 48-26 win.

Miller threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns, mostly targeting Tyler Claxon who accounted for 217 receiving yards and three of the aerial touchdowns.

Wheelersburg struck first with a 32-yard pass from Eddie Miller to Claxon in the first quarter then made it 14-0 in the second quarter with a 73-yard pass from Miller to Claxon.

Waverly narrowed the gap with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Trevon Bolin to Paul Underwood, but Wheelersburg added another touchdown with a 1-yard run from Austin Gifford.

A Dylan Miller touchdown catch from 10-yards out made it 21-7 in the second quarter.

Waverly’s Paul Underwood, who had 198 total yards receiving, had two more touchdown catches and teammate Dillon Miller had a 5-yard touchdown run but it wasn’t enough to catch up to the Pirates.

Wheelersburg moves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the SOC II and will host Minford next week.

Waverly drops to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the SOC II and will host West next week.
