The Division II Southeast District Golf Tournament took place Wednesday in Circleville at Pickaway Country Club.
The only team to qualify for the districts was Portsmouth which finished with a team total of 361, good for a tie with Jackson for the final score out of the six teams to make it to district play.
Unioto finished with a team total of 328 and Chesapeake finished with a 330 both good enough to qualify for the State Tournament on Oct. 12 and 13.
Portsmouth’s Brandon Jones had an 88 while teammate Levi Porter shot an 89. Drew Miller of Portsmouth shot a 90 and Joe Amburgey shot a 94. Trent Rodbell had a 102 to round out Portsmouth’s team total of 361.
Area individual golfers that qualified for District play included Northwest’s Cameron Pope, Waverly’s Tyler Tartker and West’s Todd Galloway.
Pope finished his day with a score of 87 while Nartker finished with a 99. Galloway went to the clubhouse with a final score of 91. Despite their efforts, the area golfers did not advance to the State Tournament.
The two golfers to advance on to State Individuals were Andrew Harley of New Lexington with a 76 and Rob Canady of Gallia Academy with a 77.
