A few days after dropping its first game of the season, Ironton dropped in the latest Associated Press football poll.


The Fighting Tigers, who lost Friday at Paintsville (Ky.) Johnson Central 44-31, went from fourth to ninth in the Division IV poll. The loss snapped Ironton’s seven-game regular season winning streak.


The Fighting Tigers return home Friday to take on Columbus Bishop Watterson. The loss drops Ironton to second in the latest Division IV, Region 15 computer rankings according to JoeEitel.com.


Also in the same region, Minford is third and Piketon is seventh. The Falcons play at Northwest and the Redstreaks play their final home game of the regular season when Unioto comes into town.


In Division V, Valley and Wheelersburg represent the region in 14th and 17th respectively. Last week, the Indians were 13th and the Pirates did not receive enough votes to be recognized.


Valley travels this week to West while Wheelersburg is at Waverly. The Pirates are among three are teams in Division V, Region 19. They are second, Oak Hill is third and the Indians are sixth.


Another note of importance with the region included the loss suffered by Bucyrus Wynford, which fell 26-7 to Ontario, snapping the school’s 63-game winning streak. The last time the Royals lost came Sept. 1, 2006, a 28-6 decision at Sycamore Mohawk.


Last week’s loss also comes after Wynford recorded three-consecutive shutouts. The Royals are currently fourth in the region.


The region did not have a Division VI team in this week’s poll. In Region 23, Symmes Valley stands fifth, Notre Dame checks in at seventh and East is 13th.


The Vikings travel Friday to Sciotoville to face the Tartans. The Titans are on the road against the Oaks.


All six schools that were atop the six separate polls a week ago remained the same.
