Jean Jeanguenat, 88


Jean Jeanguenat, 88, of West Portsmouth, died at Riverside Hospital in Columbus Sept. 12, 2012. She was born on Aug. 12, 1924, at Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Paul and Blanche Frasher Jeanguenat. She was also preceded in death by a sister Louise Doerr. Surviving are a sister Evelyn (Wade) Lawson of Lucasville and several nieces and nephews.


Jean was retired from Williams Manufacturing Co. and Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was an avid bowler and a football fan of Notre Dame University, Portsmouth Notre Dame High School, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, and worked at the New to Used Store at the church. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Schools.


She was a charter member of the Golden Bears and enjoyed watching the Shawnee State girls basketball team with her sister Evelyn. She loved camping and traveling with her family.


Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Rev. David Young officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery.


Friends may call at MELCHER FUNERAL HOME from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.


on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, Recitation of the Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at MELCHER FUNERAL HOME.
