The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a possible drowning at the Holiday Point Marina in Franklin Furnace. According to the Sheriff’s office, the body of 63-year-old Peggy Hardin of Rawl, West Virginia, was pulled from the water around 3:25 a.m. Sunday.

The report said Hardin was found about 40 feet from the Tiki Bar area and that Doug Applegate used a small inflated boat to get her to the edge of the dock area. That is where Applegate and Ronnie Hall pulled her out of the water. Applegate immediately began CPR.

The Green Township Squad responded, could not find a pulse, and were unable to revive her. She was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center.

According to the report, Hardin had been drinking with some people on the dock area and at the bar, and that she had walked to the boat and went to sleep. Ron Gregory, the owner of the boat where Hardin was sleeping said she could not swim but she had no problems on the dock or boat area. No one reportedly knew she was in the water until they heard someone yell for help from the rear area of his boat.

They had been looking for her about 40 minutes before they found her.
