Johnny M. Phipps, 64

Johnny M. Phipps, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., passed away Sept.6, 2012. Born Aug. 2, 1948, to the late Sylvester and Jean Phipps. He is survived by his wife Linda Kale Phipps whom he married Aug. 16, 1969. Sons John W. (Mindy) Phipps, Michael Phipps and daughter Gina Phipps. Grandchildren Melissa, Paul and Bryan; a brother Randy (Kris) Phipps; sisters, Shelba Tackett, Pat (Walter) Prose and Sandy (Jack) Spicer; brother and sister in laws John and Julie Kale, Chris and Jan Kale, Mary Maillet, Terri and Ben Grose, Paula Kale, Carolyn Sanders and Annette Kale, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by brother Melvin and sister Zelba, and mother and father in laws, Joan (Mrs. T.) and Paul Thompson and Paul Kale.

He graduated from Northwest High School in 1966. He is a former employee of Cyclopes (Empire Detroit Steel Mill Blast Furnace), and retired to Lehigh Acres, Fla. where he volunteered for the Our Daily Bread Pantry. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lehigh Acres. Hobbies included wheelin’ and dealin’ for cars, a good garage sale or singing. He could always make you laugh. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the families’ convenience.
