Valley and Notre Dame met on the hard courts Thursday evening and Valley took the match 3-2 to move to 5-2 overall.
Jessica Schmidt of Notre Dame defeated Jessica Bender of Valley 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match while Katie O’Neill of Notre Dame beat Valley’s Nicole Mills 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles match.
Lauren Arguello of Valley defeated Allyson Ware of Notre Dame 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles.
MacKenzie Rowe and Maddie Harley of Valley defeated Trista Davis and Crystal Holtgrewe 6-2, 7-5 in No. 1 doubles while Valley’s Morgan Castle and Kalu Mayo defeated Tori Ruggles and Keely Taylor after a 6-2 opening set and a forfeit due to injury in No. 3 doubles.
Valley plays Vinton County Monday.
VOLLEYBALL
Valley def. West 22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-19
Valley defeated West in SOC II action Thursday evening in four sets. It was the first win of the season for the Lady Indians.
Valley’s McKenzie Coriell 13 points and 18 digs while teammate Brittney Rolse 15 points. Elysia Montegomery had 12 points, six aces and 36 assists while Emily Richard had five points.
Bethany Conley five points and three aces while Madison Lewis five blocks.
Valley will play in the Unioto tournament on Saturday.

Glenwood def. Western 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 17-25, 15-7
Glenwood battled Western and came away winners Thursday evening.
Kiersten McGraw 13 kills and 10 points for the Lady Tigers while teammate Hannah Bender nine assists and eight points.
Kaitlyn Fannin 18 points and 10 digs while Taylor Baldridge 16 digs and five points.
Glenwood moves to 2-2 overall and will play Tuesday at Symmes Valley.

Notre Dame hosted Green Thursday night and came out of the SOC scrum winners in three sets.
Libby Welsh had 29 points and six aces for the Lady Titans while teammate Emma Gohmann had 11 kills.
Maggie Hoover notched 21 assists while Andrea Marchyn had 12 digs for Notre Dame.
Notre Dame improves to 3-1 overall and will play in a quad-match at Ironton Saturday.

Clay def. East 25-16, 25-11, 25-4
Clay hosted East Thursday and took the match in three sets.
Clay’s Annie Hopkins 10 kills while teammate Sarah Pelfrey had seven kills. Lady Panther Gabby Hickman had 16 assists, 20 points, 10 aces while Marta Tomasi 19 points 12 aces. Katie Redding 11 points and eight aces for Clay.
Clay moves to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the SOC and will host a Tri-match against Southeastern and Waverly Saturday.

Northwest def. Minford 18-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-18
Northwest improved to 3-2 on the year and 3-1 in SOC II play with a four-set victory over host Minford.
Haleigh Vastine had 14 kills and 13 points to lead the Mohawks. Mandi Kidder added 20 digs.
Northwest travels Tuesday to West.

South Webster 2, Wheelersburg 0
South Webster took down Wheelersburg 2-0 on the pitch Thursday evening.
There was no score after the first half but Andrew Salisbury and Kyle Fuller assisted Seth Goddard with 31:18 remaining to make the score 1-0 Jeeps.
Kyle Keaton scored next for South Webster with 4:10 left to make it 2-0 Jeeps.
“We had numerous scoring opportunities off throw ins because we kept the ball on their half a good portion of the game and we finally connected on one,” South Webster coach Corey Claxon said. “Our defense has been playing well and they were good tonight with the shutout.”
Lance Swords had one save for South Webster while Alex Dalton had six saves for ‘Burg.

‘Burg takes SOC II match
Mitchell McFarland and the Wheelersburg Pirates took the latest edition of SOC II play Thursday at Shawnee Golf Course.
McFarland was the low scorer with a 40 that helped the Pirates to a score of 174.
Waverly had a 193, followed by Northwest with a 194, West with 204, Minford with 210 and Valley with a 217 tally.
The low scorer for Waverly was Daniel Heffner with a 46 while Cameron Pope had the Northwest low score with 43.
Todd Galloway had a 42 for West and Minford’s Skylar Austin shot the low number for Minford. Valley’s Darby High had a team low of 46.

East def. Ironton St. Joe 22-25, 25-16, 25-13, 20-25, 15-9
East earned a hard fought victory over Ironton St. Joseph Wednesday evening as the Lady Tartans won in five sets.
Jessie Monroe had 26 points, five kills and six assists while teammate Brooklyn Newell had 21 points and four aces.
Tiffany Craft had 18 points for East while Courtney Melton had 13 and two aces. Tiffany Craft had 10 kills and five blocks while Maddie Lindamood had six blocks, seven digs, five kills and five aces.
