The 11th Annual Rarden Whitetail Deer Festival is set to take place the weekend of Sept. 7-9. Activities of the festival include a bow competition, archery shoot, shot gun competition and many other activities.
The opening ceremonies of the festival will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, on the festival main stage. A cornhole tournament will take place at 6 p.m. in North Park. The festival Queen and Princess Program will take place at 6:30 p.m. on the main stage. After the queen and princess program, a karaoke contest will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a raccoon shoot starting at dark.
On Saturday, Sept. 8, activities start at 9 a.m. with a 5k run starting at the Rarden Community Center. A three-on-three basketball tournament will take place at 10 a.m. at the Rarden Community Center. The Lill’ Buck & Lill’ Miss Doe Contest will take place at 2 p.m. on the festival main stage. The Rejoice Cloggers will take the stage from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the Cantrells will take the stage from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A greased pig contest will take place at 4:30 p.m. The Poverty String Band will take the main stage from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The group Inside & Out will take the stage from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Sept. 9, a three-on-three basketball tournament will take place at 10 a.m. at the Rarden Community Center. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a wood carving Demo by Josh Morrison. Then at 3 p.m., the festival parade will take place on Main Street in Rarden. Following the parade the annual baked goods auction will take place along with raffle drawing to conclude activities of the festival.
