A pretrial date has been set for the woman accused of shooting to death three members of a Franklin Furnace family in late December.

Kara M. Garvin, 29, of 3407 Back Rd., Franklin Furnace is scheduled to appear at 2 p.m. March 19, in Judge Howard H. Harcha III’s court room.

Garvin is charged in the deaths of Edward D. Mollett, 46, and Juanita F. Mollett, 43, of 287-C Snook Road, and 20-year-old Christina J. Mollett, 1602-A Junior Furnace Road on Dec. 22, 2008.

She also faces charges of attempted murder, attempted robbery and attempted burglary from a Nov. 26 separate incident.

The death penalty is a possibility in the Garvin case.

“There are multiple murder counts and multiple death specifications on it,” Assistant Scioto County Prosecutor Pat Apel said during Garvin’s arraignment in January. “The grand jury indicted on the death penalty and we will pursue on that now. Like in any case we evaluate the case as we go. As we get more information, we make evaluations — which way do we want to go? How strong is their case. — Then we make those decisions as we go.”

Garvin is being held in the Scioto County Jail in lieu of bond on the capital murder charge; bond was set at $200,000 cash or surety on an attempted murder charge; and $10,000 cash or surety on a passing bad checks charge.
