Shawnee State Park and Lodge has undergone a number of new renovations aimed at enhancing the experience of visitors.
South Dakota-based U.S. Hotel and Resort Management took over the Shawnee Lodge, as well as the Hueston Woods Lodge near Oxford, Ohio, in February.
U.S. Hotels and Resort Management President Tom Biegler said when they took over management that the Shawnee Lodge would be getting a new roof and a number of other improvements would be made. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), owner of the lodge, a new lodge roof has been installed. All of the 50 lodge rooms now have new carpet, paint, lighting and décor. The 25 cottages at Shawnee have also been upgraded with new carpet and flooring, beds, appliances, furniture, lighting and flat-screen televisions.
Ohio State Parks operates eight resort lodges with 881 rooms, 221 cottages and golf courses at six resorts.
According to released information all of the cottages at Hueston Woods Lodge have been modernized.
“This public-private partnership is a win-win for Ohio State Parks’ visitors,” said ODNR Director James Zehringer in a released statement. “We hope the improvements combined with the many other recreational options that these parks feature will make Hueston Woods State Park and Shawnee State Park even more appealing to our visitors.”
Representatives from U.S. Hotel and Resort Management could not be reached for further comments.
According to Bethany McCorkle, from the ODNR Office of Communications, no state funds were used in the renovations.
