Katina B. Soumbasakos, 88, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Feb. l8, 2009, at James Cancer Center in Columbus.

A native of Greece, she was born Dec. 17, 1920, to the late Bill and Tsiame Tasia Chucales. She retired from Williams Manufacturing as a machine operator.

Katina was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Huntington, W.Va., and a member of Philoplochos Ladies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Soumbasakos, Feb. 28, 1975; two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews; one special nephew, George Tsoukales; one special cousin, Mary Bowen; and special nephew and niece, Bill and Diane Bowen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Co. in Portsmouth, with Father Mark Elliot officiating, and burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Daehlers.
