PDT Sports Report

The regular season finale for the Kentucky Warriors set to take place today at Spartan Municipal Stadium has been cancelled due to the Ohio Ducks forfeiture of the contest.

Ducks owner Gene Smith contacted Warriors owner Rick Witt Wednesday to formally inform him of his team’s intention to forfeit the contest.

According to Smith, injuries and the Week 9 player-signing deadline have impaired the Ducks to the point they would not have enough players to make the trip to Portsmouth.

Saturday’s game would have determined home-field advantage for Kentucky’s opening game of the postseason. With the forfeit, the Warriors move to 10-1 and are assuredly the host team for their first playoff contest.

The notch in the win column locks Kentucky in a seeding tie with the Southern Ohio Bucks.

If the Bucks lose their contest against Mansfield on August 18, Kentucky will clinch home-field advantage for the second round of the playoffs.

The opening round of the playoffs for Kentucky will be August 25 at Spartan Municipal Stadium.
