River Bend House, on Pirate Drive in Wheelersburg, will be observing a special open house Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

“In the past River Bend House has offered nursing available to residents, but it has only been for eight hours a day,” Catherine Fuller a spokeswoman for River Bend House said.

“We’ve added about 60 percent new staff. We’ve increased our nursing to 24 hour nursing. Our LPN’s went from 16 hours availability a week plus on calls, to 40 hours plus phone calls. And so we have a new team in place and a new game plan under the direction of a new CEO, and we wanted to team-up with the Wheelersburg High School baseball team, and not only recognize them for their achievement, being state champions, and to sign autographs, but we also wanted to give the community an opportunity to come in and see what the new River Bend is all about.”

Fuller said the community is invited to the open house which is located at 900 Pirate Drive.

“Our staff is going to be on hand,” Fuller said. “If people want to tour the house they are more than welcome to. We’ll provide dinner. We’ve got burgers and dogs, just cookout stuff. It’s just a little accolade to the baseball team, and then also an opportunity for the community to come in and meet us, and for us to meet them.”

Assisted Living Facilities are designed to provide housing, health care and personal care services to seniors in need of assistance with activities of daily living in a more independent environment than a traditional nursing home.
