NEW BOSTON — New Boston police are searching for a suspect wanted in a purse snatching at Walmart.
According to New Boston Police Capt. Steve Goins, a woman was shopping at Walmart at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday. She reportedly placed her purse on the floor while she was looking at clothes and then walked away, not realizing she had left her purse behind. When she returned, the purse was gone. It was later recovered in the men’s restroom, but it had been ransacked through and several items were reportedly stolen.
Walmart surveillance cameras recorded a male suspect taking the purse. He was seen carrying it from the area and then going into the men’s restroom with the purse. The male suspect appears to be perhaps in his late-30s or early-40s, between 5-foot-8- and 5-foot-10-inches tall, about 160 to 170 pounds, and appears to have salt and pepper colored hair.
Goins asks any citizen who thinks they might know the suspect to call into New Boston Police Department at 740-456-4109.
