Col. James Malone, 85
Colonel James Joseph Malone, 85, of Windcrest, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012. Born Dec. 19, 1926, in Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Earl Malone and Ethel Bayless Malone.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia Meisel Malone, formerly of Portsmouth; six loving children; brother John Malone of Portsmouth; two sisters, Sister Agnes (Regina) Malone of Minnesota, and Alberta (Tom) Surendonk of Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Nancy, brother Charles, sister Margaret and her husband Harold Porginski, sister-in-law Betty Meisel Beaumont and husband Charles, and brother-in-law Robert Meisel.
His Air Force career spanned 31 years. His awards included the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Schertz Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in San Antonio. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Antonio.
