Aileen Marguerite Callihan, 89, of Portsmouth, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Minford to the late Ormund and Anna Mae Rickey Bennett.
Aileen was a member of First Christian Church and she had retired from the former Williams Manufacturing Company where she worked as a fancy stitcher.
Her husband, Wayne Matthew Callihan, whom she married Dec. 13, 1941, in Greenup, Ky., preceded her in death April 11, 1988.
Surviving are her son, Gary Wayne (Barbara) Callihan of Portsmouth; three brothers, Fred Bennett of Portsmouth, Joe and Pat Bennett, both of Minford; three grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Callihan of Cumming, Ga., Lorey Callihan and Jill Callihan, both of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Conner Bennett Callihan and Lilly Claire Callihan; and two special grandkids, McKenzie and Kiley Rhea.
Six brothers, Donald, Bernard, Wendell, Larry, Harold and Johnny Bennett; and two sisters, Northa Bennett and Dorothy White also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Peter Michael officiating and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 pm, and Friday from noon until the funeral hour.
