Marguerite (Peg) Brown 87
Marguerite (Peg) J. Brown age 87 of Wheelersburg died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Hillview Retirement Center. She was born September 7, 1924 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Joseph C. Updegraff and Hannah Luce Updegraff. She was a Portsmouth High School graduate, got her B.S. Degree at Miami University in High School Education and a member of Wheelersburg United Methodist Church.
She was a retired teacher of 38 years having taught at Green High School and Wheelersburg High School. She was a volunteer at the 1810 House in Portsmouth, a member of the Portsmouth Literary Club, a member of Delta Zeta Soriety, a charter member of AAUW in Portsmouth and a member of Joseph Spencer Chapter DAR. She also was known for her cinnamon candy apples that she made every Halloween to pass out to the trick or treaters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter N. Brown on October 9, 2011. They were married September 29, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggi Brown (Gary) Stephens, a Foster Daughter, Betty Lupe, two grandchildren, Shawn Stephens and Geoffrey Stephens, two honorary grandchildren, John E. Lupe and Teresa Voth and four honorary great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, July 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Perry Prosch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral services on Monday.
