Josie Rase, 80

Martha Josephine Rase of Wheelersburg died June 30, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. She was born Sept. 28, 1931, in Sandy Hook, Ky. to the late Wick Weddington and Alpha Adkins Weddington. She was a 1950 graduate of Wheelersburg High School, a former clerk for Ridenbaugh Pharmacy and a former secretary for Wheelersburg Little League.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Race on Jan. 13, 1986. They were married Oct. 11, 1952, in Wheelersburg.

She is survived by four sons, Mike (Debbie) Rase. Joe (Pam) Rase, Jeff (Tami) Rase and Andy Rase,one brother, Ron Weddington, one sister, Irene Thompson, thirteen grandchildren and ten grandchildren. She was also known as Mamaw Josie to the many children whom she cared for in Wheelersburg.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Rase and two sisters, Myrt Hanes and Darlene Thomas.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Lavender officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and one hour before the services on Tuesday.
