The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Twin Bridges on U.S. 52 in reference to a vehicle fire Saturday. Firemen Michael Jordan and Zach Hayes advised Deputy Kyle Porter the fire in a Ford F-150 truck was suspicious in nature and appeared to have started in the cab. According to the report the cab was burned completely to the frame, the hood of the truck was burned away and the engine compartment was also burned.

A witness reported seeing the truck drive down by the Portsmouth side of the Scioto River and get stuck in the sand. He said the driver continued to try to accelerate out of the sand until something in the vehicle became disabled. The witness said two white males exited the vehicle, and the passenger lit something and put it in the cab of the vehicle and shut the door, then walked away. He said the driver stood by the passenger side of the truck until he saw the fire. He then left the scene as well, according to the witness.

Deputies attempted to make contact with the owner of the truck at his residence but were unsuccessful as the address appeared to be vacant. The report said the owner has not been located and the truck has not been reported stolen.
