Staff Reports

The American Red Cross will open a cooling shelter at the Waverly High School cafeteria according to a release sent by the Pike County Emergency Management Agency.

The shelter is for anyone who is experiencing any type of heat distress. PCEMA made the decision after power outages and extremely-high temperatures have been reported around the region.

Those who wish to be taken to the shelter but have no form of transportation must call 708-1221.
