PDT Sports Report

The Portsmouth City Junior Championship, a USTA sanctioned tennis tournament, was held at the William Daehler Tennis Center at Shawnee State University June 17 and 18 and hosted 46 players.

The tournament featured local players as well as participants from all over Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Michigan. Players competed in 10 different age divisions.

In the Boys 18 and Under group, Nick Johnson was the winner with Andrew White finishing second and Richard Blevins winning the consolation bracket.

In the Girls 18 and Under category, Leda Daehler was the winner with Jessica Schmidt placing second. Katie O’Neill took the consolation bracket.

The Boys 16 and Under group went to Jason Prince while Connor Christian finished second. The consolation winner was Rodney Spriggs.

The Girls 16 and Under category went to Jessica Schmidt while Katie O’Neill finished second and Katie Swan took the consolation bracket.

The Boys 14 and Under went to Drew Jackson while Gabe Foit finished second. Tayte Pridemore was the consolation winner.

The Girls 14 and Under group went to Katie Swann and Hayley Hatfield finished second.

The Boys 12 and Under category was won by Brandon Scarberry while Seth Pertuset finished second. The consolation bracket went to Michael Zayneh.

The Girls 12 and Under group went to Baesha Johnson while Olivia Logan finished second. Alyssa Jones won the consolation group.

The Boys 10 and Under category winner was Caden Wilcox while Rohit Kataria came in second. Brock Kessinger took the consolation bracket.

The Girls 10 and Under winner was Sarah Powell and the second place finisher was Addison Powell. The consolation Ellie Kallner.
