Luther W. Ison, 82, of Piketon, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Pike Community Hospital. Born Sept. 20, 1929, in Crockett, Ky., a son of the late Arnold and Corintha Barker Ison, he was a graduate of Stockdale High School, was Vice President of Bomax Industrial Cleaning and was a courier for Pike Community Hospital. He was Pastor of Gospel Lighthouse for many years and was in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War.

He is survived by three sons, David (Debbie) Ison of Beaver, Daniel (Sandy) Ison of Waverly, Gerald Ison of Wakefield; three daughters, Frieda (Tom) Reinsmith of Beaver, Rita Ison of Piketon, Theresa (Jack, who is deceased) Johnson of Piketon; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Charles (Pauline) Ison, Tivis (Reda) Ison, Delmer (Sue) Ison; one sister, Jean (Joe) Jenkins; a daughter-in-law, Anna (Larry, who is deceased) Ison; a brother-in-law, Bob (Glenda) Conley, and a sister-in-law, Revery Conley.

In addition to his parents, son Larry, and son-in-law, Jack, he was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda D. Conley Ison; one son, James Ison; and, one great-granddaughter, Candy Pennington.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Paul Ross officiating. Burial will be in Squire Cemetery in Minford.
