U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced Tuesday that the WSOS (Wood, Seneca, Ottawa, and Sandusky counties) Community Action Commission, in Fremont, Ohio, has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to establish an “Economic Gardening” initiative in 14 Ohio counties, including Scioto and Pike.

The program has been awarded $99,952 by the USDA’s Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) Program.

Economic Gardening is a business initiative that seeks to create jobs by nurturing 20 existing businesses in Ashtabula, Brown, Clinton, Crawford, Hardin, Highland, Huron, Jackson, Jefferson, Morgan, Meigs, Pike, Scioto and Seneca counties.

“Thanks to these federal resources, small businesses throughout Ohio will have a better shot at creating new opportunities and jobs in small towns and rural areas,” Brown said. “Small businesses are essential to our economy, and through this award, local communities and their residents can lead the way in rural economic development.”

The WSOS Community Action Commission could not be reached on Tuesday to identify the businesses that will benefit in Scioto County.

"Economic Gardening" is the latest spin of "smoke and mirrors" for we taxpayers to "mask" "earmarks" combined with "bailouts" and what the SOGP now does under the "mask" of the CAO.

EG, our latest to make up feel good that we are going no were but down...........into the abyss.

And Brown takes on the City's approach of short notice to keep us from participating. I've heard his town meeting was not what he wanted, cause he's using the "smoke and mirrors approach.

Shame on you Senator Brown. This will not get posted like the last one on this charade......
