NEW BOSTON — Two people were arrested in New Boston on Monday after police said they found heroin during a search of their home.

According to New Boston Police Capt. Steve Goins, officers from the Portsmouth Municipal Court Probation Department and New Boston Police conducted a search at the residence of probationer Larry Howard Jr., at 3201 Rhodes Ave., Apt. 6, in New Boston, at 3:50 p.m. Monday. Howard, 29, lives there with his girlfriend, Dottie Stevens, 24.

During the search, police reportedly discovered heroin in the apartment along with other drug paraphernalia items.

Howard and Stevens were both arrested by New Boston police and charged with fifth-degree felony possession of heroin, and first-degree misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were taken to New Boston Police Department for booking, and they were later transported to the Scioto County Jail pending their court appearance Tuesday morning.

New Boston police ask anyone who would like to report suspected drug dealers or drug crimes to call the New Boston Police Department Drug and Crime Hotline at 740-456-4144. Callers can remain anonymous, Goins said.
