Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene

Pastor Brian Daniels and the congregation of Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene extend to you a warm and friendly welcome to come and be a part of their services this week.

Sunday, June 24, 9:30 a.m. - Sunday School; 10:45 a.m. - Morning Worship with Pastor Brian bringing the message. An interpreter for the deaf and hard of hearing is available at all services. This week’s Nursery workers are Alex Clark and Kathy Kammerer. This week’s Children’s Church workers are Mary Carol McCoy and Erica Kegley; 6 p.m. - Sunday Evening Worship with Music Night featuring music from our very own talented people.

Berean Baptist Church

Berean Baptist Church, Sciotoville

Sunday School 9:30 a.m.; Worship Service 10:40 a.m.; Evening Service 6 p.m.

Wednesday Prayer Service 7 p.m. with the Wednesday Night Kids Club (WNKC) and Teen Time

Bus Ministry Visitation each Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Gospel Heralds from Appalachian Bible College will be presenting special music on Wednesday night, June 20. A special meal will be provided for the group before the service. There will be no Wednesday Night Kids Club (WNKC) on this Wednesday night.

Sunday, June 24, the group from Crown College will be presenting special music in the Morning Worship Service. Everyone is welcome to attend and receive a blessing.

Berean Bible Time (Vacation Bible School) with missionaries Harry and Joyce Ramsey will get underway on Sunday Evening, June 24 and continuing through Thursday, June 28 for all age groups, including adults participating. Lots of achievement awards and prizes will be given away. A Golden Corral achievement certificate for a free meal will be a part of their award program.

Harry & Joyce Ramsey will be given special recognition as being special missionaries for the week and supported by Berean since Feb. 1, 1991.

Special recognition will be given to those celebrating anniversaries: AC1 Chris and Layna Leightenheimer on June 25 (1 year); Adam and Cathy Forshey, June 28 (37 years) and Adrian and Juanita Sluder, June 30 (61 years).

Special recognition will be given to scheduled nursery workers for the week are Lawanna Whitt, Maxine Lavender and Heather Harness.

Berean will be celebrating their 132nd Anniversary of the church on Sunday, July 1 with “dinner on the ground” immediately following the Morning Worship Service and followed by the special celebration and worship service and singing. Jack Woodring and his wife, Linda (Keene), missionaries serving in Vietnam, will be special guests the first four Sundays in July with Jack bringing the message in all of the services.

Breakfast is served each Sunday at 9 a.m. for the bus ministry and workers. There are Sunday School Classes for all ages and a Nursery provided with skilled workers to assist with little ones. Wheelchair access and facilities for the handicap.

First Church of Christ

During June, members of the First Church of Christ have been collecting shoes and socks for Operation Christmas Child. Sharon Danzer will serve as drop-off location coordinator.

The Ladies Praise, Prayer, Bible Study will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the annex of the First Church of Christ, 1224 Dogwood Ridge Road, Wheelersburg. Randy Wickham, minister, will give a devotion at 10 a.m. Wednesday at River Bend House in Wheelersburg.

Community Bible Church also invites you to our Homecoming Services on Sunday, June 24, 2012, starting at 10 a.m. for Sunday School, and Morning Worship Service at 10:45 a.m. Homegate Quartet will sing in the morning and afternoon services, with preaching by Bro. Joe Nelson. Dinner will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Afternoon Service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with preaching by Bro. Brad Harris. There will be no Evening Service. Everyone is welcome.

Holy Redeemer Church

Farewell Reception for Sr. Marie Glennon and Sr. Geraldine Krom

Holy Redeemer Church will host a Farewell Reception for Sr. Marie Glennon, and Sr. Geraldine Krom on Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holy Redeemer Activity Center, 1325 Gallia Street, Portsmouth. The sisters will be moving at the end of July to their motherhouse in North Dakota. These sisters are the last of many who have been a blessing and grace to our community. We invite all from the Churches and their parishoners of Scioto County, as well as the entire community, to come and bid them fare-thee-well on their journey. Cards are welcome. Farewell Reception for Rev. Dwayne A. McNew

Holy Redeemer Church will also host a Farewell Reception for Rev. Dwayne A. McNew to celebrate his ministry and thank him for his dedication to all of us in Scioto County on July 6, 2012 at 6 p.m. at the Holy Redeemer Activity Center, 1325 Gallia Street, Portsmouth. Meat, drink and utensils will be provided. Please bring a pot-luck item of your choice.
