Mildred Sue Day, 82, of Portsmouth, went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the SOMC Hospice Center. She was born May 30, 1930, in Lynnville, Ky., a daughter of the late Audie Lee Haynes and Nettie Ann Ward Haynes Jones.
Mildred was an active member of Twin Valley Baptist Church. She had worked for 20 years at the former Shake Shoppe in Rosemount, and she had worked at the former Williams Manufacturing Company. Mildred was a 1948 graduate of Sedalia, Ky., High School.
Her husband, Carless Clayton Day, whom she married Jan. 8, 1949, in Mayfield, Ky., preceded her in death Jan. 11, 2000.
Mildred is survived by a son, Richard L. (Rosie) Day of Eden Park; two daughters, Yolanda D. “Yodi” (Rick) Wilson of Portsmouth, and Jawan L. (David) Dikeman of Lewis Center, Ohio; a brother, Donnie (Cathy) Haynes of Lynnville, Ky; a sister, Sharon (Harold) Murphy of Cuba, Ky; six grandchildren, Scott (Kristen) Day, Andrea (David) Stuart, Christopher (Amanda) Day, Courtney Wilson, Danielle Dikeman, Sarah Dikeman; and four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brock, and Colton Stuart, and Alayna Day.
She was also preceded in death by siblings, Lonnie Haynes and Melva May.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Don Noel officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
