After 23 years in Portsmouth, Automania is moving to New Boston this summer.
Currently on Gallia Street in Portsmouth, Automania is a local automobile stereo and customization business. The business has been featured in magazines such as “Car Audio,” “Truckin Magazine,” “Hot Rod Magazine,” and more.
Owner Marty Mohr said he will construct a new metal building in the 3500 block of Rhodes Avenue. The site is 56-feet-by-125-feet and the new Automania will be 36-feet-by-80-feet, including a 20-foot showroom and 60-foot garage. Construction will begin at the end of July.
“I really want to be in New Boston. It’s close to home. This is a big plus for my family and me, and it will help with my retirement that I want to do in five or six years. And being on the main street like that will be a more valuable property,” Mohr said.
At a meeting of the New Boston Village Council on Tuesday, Mohr asked for the village’s permission to tap into water and utility lines — which they granted, happy to welcome the new business to New Boston.
